How often should my grandfather clock be cleaned? Most grandfather clock movements should be cleaned at least once every 10 years. What do I need to do to move my grandfather clock? For local moves weights and pendulums need to be removed, chime rods and pullys need to be stabilized. On all local moves I always recommend service and rebalance when the clock is put back to run.
